Power walking is one of the best ways to improve your health and burn fat and calories at the same time.  Even if you are not used to walking regularly, power walking is one of the easiest forms of exercise to learn and pick up because it does not take any special skills and just puts into use something you have known how to do for years—walking.  If you are looking for a sure proof way to lose weight and pick up a daily exercise routine that you can stick to, it is easy to power walk your way to health.

Power Walking is slightly more intense than regular walking, which is what most people who exercise decide to begin with.  If you have never power walked before it is a good idea to first begin walking on a daily basis, increasing the speed and distance that you are able to handle on each outing.  As you become more comfortable with the long distance walking you can then begin to power walk for short spurts every day.

Because there is no equipment or special training needed, this form of exercise is incredibly easy to do.  It is also one of the cheapest forms of exercise you can find since the only thing you need is motivation and a sturdy pair of sneakers.  To power walk you simply increase your regular walking pace so that it is twice as fast as your normal walking speed.  You do not want to quite run, but you will be getting in several more steps than you would walking and keep from adding the extra stress that jogging or running puts on your feet and knees.

Research has shown that just an additional ten to fifteen minutes of dedicated exercise every day can drastically improve your health and help you keep off extra pounds.  Weight loss is always one of the biggest reasons people begin to start power walking, but if this is something that you are able to continue doing on a daily basis you will be able to maintain your regular weight and improve your overall health without having to worry about additional weight gain.
